As we cross the halfway mark of 2013, it’s apparent that there is still a good bit of shifting still to do on the planet. The first half of this year has revealed that there’s still a good amount of work still to be done in the letting go of the old paradigm, ego-based thoughts and behavior patterns for many folks. I’ve witnessed the ongoing conflict even among many of those attempting to facilitate consciousness work for others, especially in the areas of friendships and/or intimate partnerships. Of course, our relationships with others is part of the reason why we come down to Earth in the first place. They are the part of the primordial soup where light and dark collide to create the very stuff of life which is here to teach us and help us grow truly on a soul level.
However, when even the best of relationships go awry, the primary questions to ask are “How much do you love your self?” and “What do you think would happen if you let go of your own story of fear of abandonment?” Face the truths behind these questions and you will begin to unravel the story by which your daily life revolves. Begin to shift through the negative and even false/illusionary beliefs you hold around these questions and your relationships with others, and you will begin to shift the complete reality of your life as you know it. Ask yourself, “What is it that I’m here to learn about myself through this experience and how can I contribute that learning to the betterment of my self and others?”
Realize that no experience can be created for you that 1) is not of your own influence whether consciously or unconsciously, and 2) every experience you have holds the potential for growth towards your greatest highest good. Yes, dear ones, even those experiences which you deem most painful and have claim to have no desire or responsibility for creating. Fear is the doorway to wisdom. First you must be willing to face your own fears in order to gain the knowledge that will lead you further down the path towards Gnosis (true knowing). To Know thy Self as you relate to others and the world around you is one of the greatest accomplishments any soul can hope to accomplish in this very challenging and sometimes confusing human experience. Will you face your final fears, take ownership of your own stuff, let go of what (or who) no longer serves and step through to the other side? If you’re reading this right now, then I want you to know that already you are halfway there.
The month of June marks a great many things. Aside from being the halfway mark for 2013, June represents a marriage of sort between the divine masculine and divine feminine properties of the Self. The month of June was named after the Roman Goddess Juno who was the wife of the Roman God Jupiter (aka “Zeus” in the Greek tradition). So, we approach the center point of the year it’s important to look how your life may be out of balance on all levels of being… materialistically as well as spiritually.
What traits are you holding onto that are showing resistance on your masculine (active, creative, thrusting, and calculating) side? What traits on your feminine side (passive, receptive, nurturing, yielding and allowing) could use more balancing as well? For the true seeker, all life is about finding the divine union within ourselves. The world we live can easily distract us by what lies outside of our selves. “Union” often translates into the old world thinking of “I have to find a girlfriend/boyfriend/husband/wife/partner” in order feel balanced or complete. However, I will offer you that in order to move into the new paradigm of thought and self-creation, one is required to look and measure the balance that lies within before anything or anyone outside of you shall be able to reflect the balance and wholeness you are seeking. This is no small task for the spiritual initiate, but with willingness, hard work, dedication, personal practice and honest intention, all right and proper action will follow to help the one seeking find exactly what it is he or she is looking for… from within.
Astrologically speaking, as the largest planet in our solar system, Jupiter is the “mover and shaker” and traditionally rules over Sagittarius, the sign of truth-seeking, learning, travel, philosophy and physical movement. Thus, we have the “wife’ of this heavy-weight of planetary energies pushing (or pulling) up the rear, so to speak, of those of you who still might be in resistance to the massive amount of changes that the Universe is forging in your life and on the planet as a whole. And as we approach the annual Summer Solstice on June 21st here in the Northern Hemisphere, otherwise known as the Winter Solstice in the Southern half of the planet (why look at that, more balancing!), we come to a point of reflection of how far we’ve come already in this very fast-paced year, and what do we have to look forward just down the line before life takes us down and around another bend.
Expect the unexpected, I assure you, but that doesn’t mean that there is anything to fear. Again, fear is the doorway to wisdom. Or to take a line from one my favorite films, The Fountain, “Death is the road (or gateway) to Awe.” Think egoic death here, dear ones. All life moves in cycles, and as one thing ends another begins. Simply remember that as you continue to let go what no longer serves you so that you can move into a place of greater balance and openness to receiving that the Universe genuinely has to offer.
June is also marked by the two zodiacs of Gemini (May 22 – June 21) and Cancer (June 22 – July 22). Gemini is also ruled by the planet Mercury which is masculine, very airy (twin boys no doubt) and represents curiosity, cleverness, skill, communication, and trying to “figure things out”. Gemini energy can be a bit of a “crazy making” time because of the need (or habit) for Gemini to constantly go back and forth on issues until they can seem to somewhat figure it out. However, as we approach the solstice, the balancing watery, feminine energy of the Moon which is the ruling planet for Cancer. The energy represented here represents a more nurturing and supportive energy assisting us to tap more into the roots of our being and our physical and emotional connection to the planet which is directly experienced through our own physical bodies.
People fail to realize the direct connection our bodies have with Mother Earth. If we become sick, she becomes sick. Where she is sick, the people become sick. The SOLUTION?? Simple, heal your self and you help heal the Earth. Help clean up and maintain a healthy planet and you help heal its occupants. It’s simple but not easy, because humans have fallen so far from their sense of connection and need for balance with the planet for a healthy relationship to exist. Slowly, many of us are beginning to remember again, and as you remember I urge you to share what you remember with others.
So, you see, all life requires balance, the energy of the Earth and the planets and the stars are all lined up to give us support and guidance in just that. In speaking with several clients and colleagues recently and throughout the last couple of years, I mentioned that 2012 is simply a year where the balance scales would begin to shift more in favor of light than of darkness. But it is going to take some time for us to get it just right where the energies that be on both sides of the conversation will be satisfied with the level of time and energy which has been accumulated on each side in order to move through the final transition. Looking at the state of the world as it is today, some believe it will not happen in our lifetime. Others, like myself, looking at the same signs of correction of certain imbalances, be they political, environmental or otherwise, we see through the “what is” into the possibility of “what will be”. I do believe that we have the potential to see changes beyond even our wildest dreams occur even before the passing of the current generation or two. That’s within the next fifty to a hundred years folks. We’ve seen more change on the planet within the last one hundred years than we’ve seen in the previous thousand. Things are moving exponentially faster, and I’m even going to go on record to say that there’s a strong possibility that EVERY THING may easily be altered and course-corrected in as little as 10 years at the rate we are going. We are quickly approaching critical mass where it only takes a pin drop to shift the entire process into overdrive. The hundredth monkey is not sitting idly by, but paying very close attention. The dominoes have already begun to fall.
However, what matters most right now IS right NOW. As another the old truism goes, “Worry not for tomorrow for tomorrow will take care of itself”. Now is not the time to worry but to take conscious thought and put it into conscious action. It’s time to take care of your own current space and time.
Still holding onto anger? Let it go. Still holding onto a sense of entitlement? Let it go. Still holding onto pain and regret of past relationships? Honor them, thank them, learn from them and let… them… go. Still consuming and contributing in ways that you know are harmful to your body and the body of the planet?? Make a decision today to do something differently — to live better, happier, healthier and more whole. Still holding onto excuses as to why you can’t do any of the above? Well, you know the routine…

As I transition from recent months of internal dialogue and self-reflection during my time in Nepal, I look forward to the upward and outward expansion that the Universe is presenting all of us as we cross the center point of 2013, a year of broader collective communication and community building which will only serve to bring us all more into balance in the coming years. How is gender balance restored within the human race? It is a common and preciously tended belief in the spiritual community that balance in humanity will only be restored when divine feminine rises to power and the tyranny of man falls. This belief is held especially tight by women who have spent their lives feeling powerless to men; and men who have resisted the masculine energy within themselves out of mercy for women. But I’m going to tell you today that this perception is incorrect. The restoration of balance within the human race is not about decreasing masculine power while increasing feminine power; as if we were sitting on some kind of cosmic scale. Instead, it is about both rising to power simultaneously.
Now you’re probably thinking… “Wait, men have been in power for thousands of years.” What if I told you that this perceptions isn’t true? The truth is that men have not been in power for thousands of years; far from it. Instead, they’ve been stripping power from women for thousands of years. There is a big difference between gaining power in and of yourself and stripping power from another. When you strip power from someone else by brute force or by manipulative subjugation, you do not increase your power one bit. Instead, your power stays at the same level while you diminish the power of another. You are not powerful because someone else is weak.
Women have made a major mistake since the 1960’s woman’s rights movement and that mistake is to try to do the same thing to men that men have done to us for centuries… diminish their power. We have tied to take our power back by demasculinizing them. And it is coming from an understandable place. We have felt powerless to men for so many thousands of years that the natural step towards the improved feeling space is into anger and revenge. And so now, our western culture has stripped the masculinity out of men. While it is true that patriarchal misogynists still exist, many men (especially those who read articles like this one) are afraid to come into their power as men because they are sorry for what men have done to women in the past. They are afraid of becoming monsters. They associate their masculine power as negative instead of positive.
As women, many of us resist our femininity because we grow up in a society, which leads us to believe that it is better to be born a boy. We are objectified and many of us are brutalized. We are taught that there is shame in the functions of our female bodies. We are made to believe that there are just certain unfortunate things that come along with being born a girl that we must accept because they are “our cross to bear”. Whether we are male or female, we make an enemy of our gender, yet we cannot escape it.
Men and women today are locked in a struggle against each other’s power. We are determined to take it away from each other. But the buried truth is that we are not actually attracted to our polar aspect (whether that be male or female) when our polar aspect isn’t expressing its full power. Men try to take power away from women and find that they do not respect and are not attracted to ignorant, weak, subjugated lemmings. And women try to take power back from men only to realize that they do not respect and are not attracted to demasculinized, confused, over grown children. We are not attracted to weakness in each other. We only want weakness from the other sex when we, ourselves feel insecure and powerless to them. The truth is, we enjoy freedom (such as the ability to choose to work or to raise children regardless of what gender we are). We cannot remain happy and restrict free will by saying that there are things only women should do or things only men should do. But we all secretly love gender roles. They turn us on. Men and women simply have no idea how to express these gender roles without hurting themselves and each other.
It is true that all people, whether they be physically male or physically female have both male and female aspects present within them; this is why from an energetic standpoint, gender is inconsequential. It is also true that one day, our race will have no gender. But as of now, this polarity actually serves our expansion. We cannot resist what we are and where we are and find balance. Most of us (men) are trying to embrace femininity within ourselves because we resist our masculinity. And most of us (women) are trying to embrace masculinity because we resist our femininity. So how do we get out of this cycle? We embrace the very thing we’re resisting. The human race is not ready to come into a place of individual androgyny. We must first learn how to embrace the polar expression of ourselves as women and as men. And this has never been done. The human race has never experienced the tandem rise to power of both divine masculine and divine feminine.
When both sexes rise to power, one cannot triumph over the other because neither is more powerful than the other. There will be balance. Men need to learn to become men and to come into the full power of divine masculine. Women need to learn how to become women, and to come into the full power of divine feminine. To do this, we need to stop worrying about each other. Meaning that we need to embrace our own gender and let them worry about doing the same. Women need to forget about what men are feeling or not feeling, doing or not doing and come into our own power as women. Men need to forget about what women are feeling or not feeling, doing or not doing and come into our own power as men. It is time that we embrace the divine feminine as well as the divine masculine and allow them to rise together to a state of harmony and balance within the world.

“Barack Obama recently signed a bill into law that was written by the billion-dollar corporation that will benefit from it. The Monsanto Protection Act allows Monsanto to override United States federal courts on the issue of planting experimental genetically engineered crops all across the US. The government has no power whatsoever to stop Monsanto and other biotechnology corporations from planting and harvesting. After Obama signed H.R. 933, the provision was final, there can be no litigation against these corporations at all. Corrupt food corporations are now allowed to plant and sell their genetically modified organisms (GMOs) and genetically engineered (GE) seeds. Apparently this report IS true. I just googled “Did Obama Sign Monsanto Protection Act?” (aka “Section 735″) to make sure AND it actually happened back in March of this year. Although, I can’t see how this bill could be constitutionally legal (of course, we are talking about the U.S. here and we deal with that issue all the time, now don’t we?), I’m sure it will have to go through due process requiring U.S. citizens to take the powers that be all the way up to the Supreme Court and over ruling this law (assuming the SC hasn’t been bought by Monsanto as well. oh wait, it sorta has… Clarence Thomas… former Monsanto lawyer… hmmmmm.)
However, a most recent report at the top of the google search dated May 17th states the “Monsanto Protection Act” might be repealed in Senate. The article more clearly states…
“Deep within the nearly 600-page spending bill, Section 735 includes language that lets biotech companies that experiment with genetically-engineered and genetically-modified crops test and sell lab-made products even if legal action is taken against them.
The provision would strip federal courts of the authority to halt the sale and planting of an illegal, potentially hazardous GE crop while the US Department of Agriculture (USDA) assesses those potential hazards,” dozens of farmers wrote the House of Representatives before the bill was passed in March. Further, it would compel USDA to allow continued planting of that same crop upon request, even if in the course of its assessment the Department finds that it poses previously unrecognized risks.
But despite pleas from agriculturalists around the world, both the Senate and House approved the spending bill — with Section 735 in tow — and the act was signed into law just days later by US President Barack Obama.” -Source:

Now, those of you who know me know I don’t like to get political. However, I’m also part Filipino and Filipinos LOVE to eat. So, when you start messing with our food like Monsanto has been doing and is now trying to skirt around the legal issues that there Genetically Modified Foods (that’s what GMO stands for folks, for some of you who may just be becoming aware of this subject just now… sleep under rocks much? I love you.), then I’ve got something to say about it.
Of course, I’m paying attention to all this unfolding half-way around the world, but the GMO issue has become a world-wide epidemic and whole countries are taking a stand and actually BANNING Monsanto seed and presence within their own countries (see
http://www.examiner.com/article/what-countries-have-banned-gmo-crops for a list of countries), and what I love about all of this is that it really causing people to look/wake up and pay attention and literally come together on this very important issue… our food source!
Of course, for many of us that live in the western more industrialized world, we have choices! Starving nations and third-world, war-torn, politically-corrupt, poverty-stricken nations, admittedly not so much. For now anyway. But what choices do we have, you say? Well for one, pay attention to what you buy. I know it’s hard and full disclosure of whether or not something is GMO (aka “Genetically Engineered” or GE). If you shop at a big-box, corporate grocery store, here’s a quick tip to tell if your produce is on the up and up by paying attention to the barcodes…
Using Price Look-up Codes (PLUs), the Nutshell. PLU codes are four digit numbers that identify different types of produce…
For example, #4011 is the code for a standard yellow banana.
The number 9 prefix added to a PLU signifies that an item is organic. For example, #94011 is the code for an organic yellow banana.
A number 8 prefix added to a PLU signifies that an item is genetically engineered (GE). For example, #84011 is the code for a genetically engineered yellow banana.
PLU codes and their organic prefixes are in wide use but GE codes are rare at best.

However, since labeling GMO/GE foods is not currently required, the next best option would be to know your food source. Who grows it, where they grow, it and how. Enter in your local farmers’ market which are popping up more and more all over the place. You don’t have to live in the rural countryside to have access to fresh produce any longer. Although that’d be great, and I do highly recommend it if you can swing it. However, for all you city-dwellers, with the growth in urban gardening and a resurgence of smaller, collective farming co-ops near major cities (thanks Monsanto!), people from Atlanta, to San Francisco to New York City can now find fresh organic produce, flowers, honey, herbs, breads, and even free-range grain/grass fed eggs and meat at least once or twice a week, especially on weekends. It’s going to take you a little work to make some changes, and it may not be as “convenient” as running down to the local corporate grocery store for a quick restock, but plan ahead and shop a couple times of in the week, and remember that this is your life we’re talking about.
Okay, option numero tres… I know some of you reading this have big beautiful back yards. Probably manicured once or twice a week in the summer time. There’s no doubt a flower garden somewhere with a lovely birdbath for those lazy days of enjoying doing nothing but watching nature play in your well-kept back yard. Well, how about a vegetable garden?! Think about getting your hands dirty and perhaps even getting the kids and spouse involved! Don’t, can’t, won’t do it on your own? Then find a friend! Surely there’s someone you know who just can’t wait to play in the dirt and would most likely be happier than a kid with cake to show you the ropes and help you design the perfect little patch of potatoes, pumpkins or parsnips any time.

Look, the world wide web is your friend. Use it. All this information was pulled up in a matter of minutes, some even within a few seconds, just to get you this far. (You’re welcome. I love you.) And all I was going to do was make a little comment about Obama and his marriage with Monsanto at the moment. Change is going to take a little time and a lot of effort on all of our parts. The problem didn’t get created over night, and the solutions will require a shift in our overall consciousness in how we do things.
The Truth is, most of us have gotten pretty lazy, yes? Come on, admit it. Grocery stores, convenience stores, fast food restaurants, microwaves (btw, please stop using those), frozen foods… all of it has made living in the modern era quite “easy”. However, while you are were sleeping and not paying attention, someone altered the source and safety of the food you require to live by in order to enjoy all these modern conveniences. So, what are we to do?
Well, for starters, it’s time to pay attention. Join a movement of increased global consciousness and say no to companies like Monsanto. You can write your congress person, but I’m going to tell you right now that that MIGHT work, but not likely. I mean if it did, the “Monsanto Protection Act” would not have passed and we would not be having this discussion at the moment. As difficult as it may be for some f you to accept even still right now, DOLLARS MAKE DIFFERENCES. The politicians know this. The corporations know this. The lobbyists know this. Now it’s truly time that YOU know this.
Every dollar that you spend casts a vote. Spend it on Genetically Modified foods from the local grocery store and you tell the grocer and the supplier that you are IN on GMO’s! It’s really quite simple. Spend your dollars at the gas pump instead of biking or carpooling or taking public transport, then you send a message to your local petroleum company that you are IN on gas-guzzling and to bring on more please! The only reason the supply exists is because you/I/we have created demand for it. It may have been an unconscious demand in the beginning, that’s true. They didn’t tell us they were going to genetically modify our foods and/or bully, buy up or run out of business small farmers around the world. No, and when the signs began to appear, we still thought, “No, that’s not possible. Is it?” Well, kids, play time is over, and the time to speak up is now.
Sure, keep marching against Monsanto! No problem. It raises awareness for those who still might be sleeping under their own rocks. Sure, keep writing and calling your congress people and even the president. Be a fly in their ointment and let them know you are paying attention. However, take away the source for their demand and you will take away their ability to supply. Look corporations (and politicians mostly) speak one language… money, dollars, green backs… you name it. PHEONYX REPLIES: I recently finished reading the “Emerald Tablets by Thoth the Atlantean” (
http://www.goodreads.com/book/show/17928126-the-emerald-tablets-of-thoth-the-atlantean ), Brett. It’s a pretty quick read actually. You’d be surprised. For me, it turned out to be a basic review of that which I had already come to know from other books and teachings, or simply already knew innately inside (which is true for all of us once a certain level of self-realization is met). Problem, most people in the world don’t quite realize it yet.
So, I’ve become aware more now than ever that I have been applying these simple yet profound hermetic principles in my life and teaching others in various ways and forms for the past several years, and they have served as the key to my own mental, emotional and physical healings. However, I”m taking in a few other good books right now… reviewing “The Flower of Life I and II” by Drunvalo Melchizedek which were inspired (if not directed) by conversations (allegedly) with the same Thoth mentioned above. Also, there’s many pieces of work by several men and women having lived during the late 1800 through mid 1900′s who were profound hermetic students/practitioners/teachers.
Recently, a young indigo from California with whom I trekked the Himalayas here in Nepal recently introduced me to a fella he read about not too long about by the name of Franz Bardon (
). So, I’m about to look into the relatively unknown 20th century mystic here shortly. But much of the basic principles are scattered throughout pretty much all of the “modern mystic” and “new age” philosophical and self-help writings of today, from that of Deepak Chopra, Wayne Dyer, Marianne Williamson, Gregg Braden, Terrance McKenna, and the like. So, if you are reading anything from any of these modern-day teachers, you’re going to get an introduction to the teachings.
However, I have had some good really good teachers in the Adameh Guides, (
http://theocgproject.com/category/the-adameh-guides ) a group of seven non-physical beings (ascended masters perhaps although they have never truly identified themselves as such; nor have I found it necessary to ask) who first made themselves known to me for the first time (in this lifetime at least, for I believe we have worked together before in a previous life or two) back in 2003 who have taught and continue to teach/train me in the art of inner alchemical processing, healing and connecting/learning/teaching others how to work with light energy/information.
If you are on the path and seeking to discover more of these inner truths, It is also important to learn and master the essential spiritual practice of meditation. The Buddha was no dummy, and those who study him and how he achieved personal enlightenment and gained access to a vast amount of information about the Universe and the nature of humans which is just one small part of it. Through both prayer (a method of speaking to Source which the master teacher Jesus was a strong proponent of) and meditation (listening to Source) one is able to move through level one and two of clearing the “noise” of the mind and the body, the third level begins to open up windows and doors to learning through higher states of awareness, tapping into the information of the Higher Mind and even the greater collection of Body Consciousness which is connected to all things.
Also, through and only through practiced meditation (the method of which is completely up to the meditator) can one truly tap into the Akasha, the Universal “Hall (or Library) of Records” (
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Akashic_records ) where all conscious and unconscious information is also stored. It’s not easy but much of the information/techniques/tools related to breath work, energy work, toning/sounding that I present have come from that place, so I AM aware that it is very real a possible.
It’s important to note, however, that the true wisdom and application of the meta-physics of life is not something that can be found or read in books. The concepts of which can only be conveyed, but true understanding requires dedication, application, great patience, and a willingness to listen and learn. Through this process is true wisdom and understanding gained. So, if you are left-brainer trying to figure out and calculate all the answers of the Universe, know that if you approach it with one-half or even one-third of all your utilities then you will only achieve one-half or even one-third of its complete understanding and how to fully experience the hermetic principles in your life. Books, videos, psychedelics, sacred geometric drawings, calculations and methods only provide the keys by which unlock the window or the door to the information which is stored already within your own physical and cosmic DNA (all DNA as simply a storage bank of information). Prayer, meditation, physical practices such as yoga, energetic practices such as taichi, qigong or reiki… all of these things all the student to tap into the realms within which all the previous student-masters have learned from and thus also reside.
Learning and applying comes by doing, and by doing one comes into learning and applying. Trust the process and follow the signs. Your own way to self-discovery will be made to you. When the student is ready, the many forms of the teacher will appear.

PHEONYX REPLIES: Aho, all life is learning my friend and relationships are our greatest teachers in this life. Still, most beings on this planet are working through karmic undercurrents of past, present and even future (potential) karma as it relates to their relationships with others. There is still much healing and learning going on in this 3rd dimensional “reality” (such as it is), and the greatest teacher in that process learning is understanding our karma as it relates to every individual we have agreed to come into contact with on this planet. And then there’s also the collective karma which all lightworkers/healers/self-appointed bodhisattvas have to not only acknowledge but begin to work with.
The current that runs through all that is the Divine Current of the Universe known by many names… “And the greatest of all these is Love” as the master teacher Jesus would say. It is also known as “the Pattern” in ancient Druidic teachings among other things… the Divine Flow… the Eternal Equalizer… the Great I AM… This current feeds into and flows out of every relationship Consciousness seeks to have with things. It is not only the outward expression of all Life but it is the seed which forms it and the life force that feeds it. Where Consciousness is, there is consciousness.
The Current of Life (i.e. and our relationship with it) flows deeper than the mind which can perceive, and yet without the Mind we could not even comprehend its existence as long as we are incarnated into thinking-mind beings. In truth, it is that also that it is. Yet, one can only be shown the door. It is up to him (or her) to find the key to the door and walk through. That requires both skill and surrender.
“To do and to not do?” that IS the question. The answer lies within both. But how does one do and not do at the same time, one may ask… Be and not be? The answer lies within the Current. Understand that, and allow yourself to ride it to the outer recesses of the thinking mind (fully conscious) and the answers to what you seek most will be shown. The doorways (yes, there is more than just one) lie within the relationships you have with every single being on this planet. Why do we climb mountains? Why do watch sunrises and sunsets? Why do we take long walks in the park? Strolls at sunset on the beach? Even perhaps sit in a cave or on a rock or in an ashram for hours on end? Well, as the old adage goes… because they are there. However, the deeper meaning, I believe, is to find or experience just that… the deeper meaning of this thing called Life.
They say that traveling makes one appreciate that which one already has. There is no doubt about that. After traveling for over a year now in the far reaches of southern Asia, I’ve come to appreciate many a thing about home back in the western world. In particular, I’ve come to truly appreciate a sense of community; quiet contemplations of the Blue Ridge Mountains of Asheville, North Carolina; friends and family in the busy metropolis of Atlanta, Georgia; electric power; running water; clean streets and sidewalks with trash bins. Yet, the biggest thing I’ve come to realize and appreciate is the diversity which is this world and all of life.
I’ve sat in the monastery. I’ve walked through bamboo forests of northern Vietnam. I’ve rented a house in the middle of a Balinese rice field. I’ve done yoga and qigong in the mountains of Nepal. I’ve watched the sun rise over the clouds amid the mountain tops of northern Philippines. I’ve walked the busy streets of both modern megalopolis and the quaint village which have required hours on bus, plain or even train to reach. Some of those places only reachable on foot even. The world is a big place, and I have by no means seen every inch of it. Indeed I have seen more of it than some and far less of it then a great many others. But the way that I’ve seen it has been with eyes looking beyond what can even be experienced by simple sight.
I have looked under the surface of all there is. I have gazed into the eyes of the water buffalo while sipping masala tea in the east. I’ve peered down from some of the tallest spires of man’s making in Singapore. I have gazed out equally upon the body of the great Mother Earth which man seems determined to alter and even conquer. I’ve sat amid ancient rice terraces created by men whose goal is to simply feed their own families and communities, let alone a hungry if not starving world. I have witnessed gaping wounds of earth on the edge of rivers where machines gauge out quarries of rock and soil to make room for more of man’s making and to provide the concrete that would eventually provide shelter and industry of an ever-increasing population.
I have looked into the face of an ancient past with an eye set on a not-so-distant future. And what have I seen? That underneath it all, it is all completely the same. Whether struggling to survive or coming into the knowing and understanding on what it means to thrive upon this little blue planet of ours, in the end all men and women kind are pretty much exactly the same. Under the surface of it all there really is no difference. Just as a goat is a goat is a goat (and trust me, I’ve seen a lot of goats on this journey), and a field is a field is a field, and a mountain is a mountain is a mountain, so true is the statement that a human is a human is a human.
So, essentially, here is the big fat secret… Something you probably already know… at least in your head. In theory perhaps. However, here it is… Are you ready for it? Are you sure you want to know?? Don’t say I didn’t warn you. Okay, here it is…
No matter how you slice it, no matter where you go in the world, it’s really all… the… same.
Point blank. Truth at its most simplest and deepest form. Experienced. Laughable even. But absolutely True. And I mean that with a capital “T”.
Now, I know there are going to be a number of you who are going to want to argue with me on that. How do,I know? Well, let’s just say that I do. Like I said, I’ve looked under the surface. But before you postulate those counter points, bear with me here for a moment. Be with me now…

Sure, cultures are different. Languages vary even more than hair or eye color by the hundreds or even thousands. However, the deeper language is all the same. I hear it in the voices I’ve engaged with no matter what the origin of the tongue or tribe. I’ve seen it in the eyes of just about every villager and city-dweller I’ve had the privilege to share space with. I’ve felt it on a soul level with every being who has allowed me the honor to reveal my own. Time… space… distance… culture… language… likes… dislikes… it’s all the same. It’s all an illusion, and yet those illusions are the very threads that make up the fabric of Life itself. How beautiful is that?
What is it that you yourself most desire in life? Freedom? Same. Safety/Security? Same. Family and/or Friendship? Same. Same. Good food? Same. Safe drinking water? Same again. Good health? You guessed it… all the same.
You see, no matter where people are in the world there are these basic human fundamentals that exist for all beings. Okay, so what I’m saying has already been said by so many beings, both mystical and practical thinkers alike. Abraham Maslow coined it as the “Basic Hierarchy of Needs” in his 1943 paper “A Theory of Human Motivation”. But even beyond our basic needs of food, family and shelter we all have deeper desires built into the very fabric of our own being that seek to be manifested… Joy… Personal connection… Communion to something greater than ourselves be that Nature or God (like there’s a difference)… and the greatest of all these… yup, you guessed it… Love.
Oh come on, I know that even some of you diehard, serial singles (whether by choice or circumstance) out there can’t deny that what you ultimately seek is to have love in your life. But this is where the road diverges. Don’t worry, it’s still all the same. However, where some seek love outside of themselves, others have gone beyond the basic needs of acquiring food, family, shelter, a decent job, a husband, wife or partner and taken the road less travelled in order to fall completely, inexorably, head-over-heals in love with themselves. That’s the main driving force that shifts one from the basic concept of survive-abilty to the ultimate conquest of thrive-abilty in this third dimensional school for the soul. Move beyond the basic and even second tier fundamentals, and there is a whole new world in THIS world just waiting to be explored.
Thus, I proffer, that people are all the same. Either they are simply surviving and working in life to take care of their basic needs, or they have moved on from focusing their energies on the basic fundamentals by focusing whatever resources they have, real or imagined (I’ll let you figure that one out), on the next level of the human experiential. OR people are somewhere in the between; somewhere between the old world and the new. Same… same… same.
And so I leave you with this thought and well-heard truism… “wherever you go, there you are”. I also often tell both friends and clients alike that one often has to go away in order to find their way home. And in the end, we are all here just helping each other home.
So, don’t be afraid to take that leap. Don’t be afraid to cut those cords. Don’t be afraid to let go of everything including whatever you think it is you about yourself. But do hold onto the Truth that the Universe knows exactly what it is doing. Do remember that you are a divine, intricate and valuable expression of the Source… just like everyone else. Do know that beyond living there is loving and eternal learning. Do know that we are all in this together, we are all exactly them same and yet profoundly unique in all that we are capable of doing. Yet, in the end, everything comes back around full circle. Think of it as a spiral actually, infinitely above as it is infinitely below. Infinitely without as it is infinitely within. And eventually, we end up right where we began, but perhaps with a slightly higher perspective next time. Hmmmm… now that’s what mountain tops are for.

While we are incarnated in a body on this earth, we must remember that we still are a spiritual being at our core. We are on this earth, in our physical bodies, because our souls have things to learn that we could not learn in any other way. It is through our physical body and the physical world that we can experience life. Purely spiritual beings are just that – they are in a state of being rather than doing – in a place that is beyond the limitations of time and space. But when we incarnate on the physical plane, we are automatically subject to the laws of physics and the world of dualities. In this place, we know what happiness is because we have experienced sadness, and we understand the value and power of light because we have known darkness. Knowing this, we have the opportunity to let ourselves be spiritual beings having a physical experience.
There is no pain in the spiritual realm, because we know we are one with the limitless source of the universe. But here, in the material realm, our sense of limitation and separation allows us to feel our emotions and to learn about love, forgiveness, and compassion. We go from a spiritual state of oneness to learning how to be in relationship with people who are different and distinct individuals. We learn to understand ourselves through our relationships with the world around us—its seasons and landscapes, challenges and opportunities. And through our journey to find our place among so many others, we begin to recognize our own glimmer of light in a constellation of stars.
Once we remember that we are spiritual beings, we can revel in the experience of being human while knowing we are all connected. We can live from the place of oneness while truly appreciating the beauty of diversity, the bittersweet feel of love and loss, and the elation of triumph over challenges and adversity. It is through these opposites that we experience life itself, and we can ride through the dark times with the understanding that it will help us to appreciate the light of life and love and spirit more fully. We are here now because we made the choice to experience an earth life, so now we can choose to enjoy the journey as completely as possible.

The empathy makes me strong. Omigosh, does it make me strong.
Sometimes we stop at this gas station/deli to eat before we commute home. Sitting at a table a short distance away was a man. Bedraggled…hair in all directions. I sensed defeat. Weariness. I went and asked him if he had a bad day.
“The best thing that happened to me today was that I was 5 minutes late to work. The BEST thing.”
I said, “you were ebbing today.”
He shook his head yes.
I held out my arms and he just absorbed all my love energy. He clung to me as I told him tomorrow would be better. And he believed.
We talked for a bit and he kept needing hugs. “You have no idea what this means to me. Thank you thank you.” Over and over he said it.
I touched his head and said “Much love. ‘…his eyes. I looked in his eyes and he said “I have hope now.” Both of us close to tears.
Today has been a day of blessings. Of extraordinary opportunities to give love.
You never know who needs your love or your arms. There is a reason why your arms are made to go around another person.

Don’t fear the people who you no-longer feel so connected too. The distance of those who once you were very close to you is only temporary. Also, please remember energy never separates and as we are all energy light beings, the connection and oneness will always be there exchanging love and your light.
There has been an increase of energy and a massive vibration shift this month. I can honestly say people who I used to be in a constant flow with do feel miles away to contact. Even if I try to regain it, the flow of energy that once was is no longer so reachable to these people.
The vibration has changed and different paths of growth are required or requested in each being. Yes, it feels uncomfortable for a little while in this realisation of this shift unfolding of this change, but the less you question it and surrender to the distance of others, the clearing things and situations become clear to you.
Keep clear within your mind you might not talk the way you used to via meeting up, telephone or text, facebook or any other way you used to but become fearless within your mind and remember you are energy and SO are they. Our new way of communication through our minds is becoming and this will be the way each and every one of us will communication now and in the future.
One by one – through each mind of transparency, it is happening so clearly now in so many – our oneness without words is no longer required and nor is the distant within and without each of us. We are all together here and NOW!

Realize that no experience can be created for you that 1) is not of your own influence whether consciously or unconsciously, and 2) every experience you have holds the potential for growth towards your greatest highest good. Yes, dear ones, even those experiences which you deem most painful and have claim to have no desire or responsibility for creating. Fear is the doorway to wisdom. First you must be willing to face your own fears in order to gain the knowledge that will lead you further down the path towards Gnosis (true knowing). To Know thy Self as you relate to others and the world around you is one of the greatest accomplishments any soul can hope to accomplish in this very challenging and sometimes confusing human experience. Will you face your final fears, take ownership of your own stuff, let go of what (or who) no longer serves and step through to the other side? If you’re reading this right now, then I want you to know that already you are halfway there.
June is also marked by the two zodiacs of Gemini (May 22 – June 21) and Cancer (June 22 – July 22). Gemini is also ruled by the planet Mercury which is masculine, very airy (twin boys no doubt) and represents curiosity, cleverness, skill, communication, and trying to “figure things out”. Gemini energy can be a bit of a “crazy making” time because of the need (or habit) for Gemini to constantly go back and forth on issues until they can seem to somewhat figure it out. However, as we approach the solstice, the balancing watery, feminine energy of the Moon which is the ruling planet for Cancer. The energy represented here represents a more nurturing and supportive energy assisting us to tap more into the roots of our being and our physical and emotional connection to the planet which is directly experienced through our own physical bodies.

As I transition from recent months of internal dialogue and self-reflection during my time in Nepal, I look forward to the upward and outward expansion that the Universe is presenting all of us as we cross the center point of 2013, a year of broader collective communication and community building which will only serve to bring us all more into balance in the coming years. Now you’re probably thinking… “Wait, men have been in power for thousands of years.” What if I told you that this perceptions isn’t true? The truth is that men have not been in power for thousands of years; far from it. Instead, they’ve been stripping power from women for thousands of years. There is a big difference between gaining power in and of yourself and stripping power from another. When you strip power from someone else by brute force or by manipulative subjugation, you do not increase your power one bit. Instead, your power stays at the same level while you diminish the power of another. You are not powerful because someone else is weak.
Men and women today are locked in a struggle against each other’s power. We are determined to take it away from each other. But the buried truth is that we are not actually attracted to our polar aspect (whether that be male or female) when our polar aspect isn’t expressing its full power. Men try to take power away from women and find that they do not respect and are not attracted to ignorant, weak, subjugated lemmings. And women try to take power back from men only to realize that they do not respect and are not attracted to demasculinized, confused, over grown children. We are not attracted to weakness in each other. We only want weakness from the other sex when we, ourselves feel insecure and powerless to them. The truth is, we enjoy freedom (such as the ability to choose to work or to raise children regardless of what gender we are). We cannot remain happy and restrict free will by saying that there are things only women should do or things only men should do. But we all secretly love gender roles. They turn us on. Men and women simply have no idea how to express these gender roles without hurting themselves and each other.
When both sexes rise to power, one cannot triumph over the other because neither is more powerful than the other. There will be balance. Men need to learn to become men and to come into the full power of divine masculine. Women need to learn how to become women, and to come into the full power of divine feminine. To do this, we need to stop worrying about each other. Meaning that we need to embrace our own gender and let them worry about doing the same. Women need to forget about what men are feeling or not feeling, doing or not doing and come into our own power as women. Men need to forget about what women are feeling or not feeling, doing or not doing and come into our own power as men. It is time that we embrace the divine feminine as well as the divine masculine and allow them to rise together to a state of harmony and balance within the world.
Now, those of you who know me know I don’t like to get political. However, I’m also part Filipino and Filipinos LOVE to eat. So, when you start messing with our food like Monsanto has been doing and is now trying to skirt around the legal issues that there Genetically Modified Foods (that’s what GMO stands for folks, for some of you who may just be becoming aware of this subject just now… sleep under rocks much? I love you.), then I’ve got something to say about it.
However, since labeling GMO/GE foods is not currently required, the next best option would be to know your food source. Who grows it, where they grow, it and how. Enter in your local farmers’ market which are popping up more and more all over the place. You don’t have to live in the rural countryside to have access to fresh produce any longer. Although that’d be great, and I do highly recommend it if you can swing it. However, for all you city-dwellers, with the growth in urban gardening and a resurgence of smaller, collective farming co-ops near major cities (thanks Monsanto!), people from Atlanta, to San Francisco to New York City can now find fresh organic produce, flowers, honey, herbs, breads, and even free-range grain/grass fed eggs and meat at least once or twice a week, especially on weekends. It’s going to take you a little work to make some changes, and it may not be as “convenient” as running down to the local corporate grocery store for a quick restock, but plan ahead and shop a couple times of in the week, and remember that this is your life we’re talking about.
The Truth is, most of us have gotten pretty lazy, yes? Come on, admit it. Grocery stores, convenience stores, fast food restaurants, microwaves (btw, please stop using those), frozen foods… all of it has made living in the modern era quite “easy”. However, while you are were sleeping and not paying attention, someone altered the source and safety of the food you require to live by in order to enjoy all these modern conveniences. So, what are we to do?
Sure, keep marching against Monsanto! No problem. It raises awareness for those who still might be sleeping under their own rocks. Sure, keep writing and calling your congress people and even the president. Be a fly in their ointment and let them know you are paying attention. However, take away the source for their demand and you will take away their ability to supply. Look corporations (and politicians mostly) speak one language… money, dollars, green backs… you name it. And with every dollar you cast a vote. every single day. Vote local. Vote sustainable. Vote green. Vote non-GMO. Vote with your heart and your mind and feed your body something other than what they have to sell you… a bill of goods that grows more sour and rotten by the minute. Now who’s really in for that?? I didn’t think so.
If you are on the path and seeking to discover more of these inner truths, It is also important to learn and master the essential spiritual practice of meditation. The Buddha was no dummy, and those who study him and how he achieved personal enlightenment and gained access to a vast amount of information about the Universe and the nature of humans which is just one small part of it. Through both prayer (a method of speaking to Source which the master teacher Jesus was a strong proponent of) and meditation (listening to Source) one is able to move through level one and two of clearing the “noise” of the mind and the body, the third level begins to open up windows and doors to learning through higher states of awareness, tapping into the information of the Higher Mind and even the greater collection of Body Consciousness which is connected to all things.
It’s important to note, however, that the true wisdom and application of the meta-physics of life is not something that can be found or read in books. The concepts of which can only be conveyed, but true understanding requires dedication, application, great patience, and a willingness to listen and learn. Through this process is true wisdom and understanding gained. So, if you are left-brainer trying to figure out and calculate all the answers of the Universe, know that if you approach it with one-half or even one-third of all your utilities then you will only achieve one-half or even one-third of its complete understanding and how to fully experience the hermetic principles in your life. Books, videos, psychedelics, sacred geometric drawings, calculations and methods only provide the keys by which unlock the window or the door to the information which is stored already within your own physical and cosmic DNA (all DNA as simply a storage bank of information). Prayer, meditation, physical practices such as yoga, energetic practices such as taichi, qigong or reiki… all of these things all the student to tap into the realms within which all the previous student-masters have learned from and thus also reside.
They say that traveling makes one appreciate that which one already has. There is no doubt about that. After traveling for over a year now in the far reaches of southern Asia, I’ve come to appreciate many a thing about home back in the western world. In particular, I’ve come to truly appreciate a sense of community; quiet contemplations of the Blue Ridge Mountains of Asheville, North Carolina; friends and family in the busy metropolis of Atlanta, Georgia; electric power; running water; clean streets and sidewalks with trash bins. Yet, the biggest thing I’ve come to realize and appreciate is the diversity which is this world and all of life.
I have looked under the surface of all there is. I have gazed into the eyes of the water buffalo while sipping masala tea in the east. I’ve peered down from some of the tallest spires of man’s making in Singapore. I have gazed out equally upon the body of the great Mother Earth which man seems determined to alter and even conquer. I’ve sat amid ancient rice terraces created by men whose goal is to simply feed their own families and communities, let alone a hungry if not starving world. I have witnessed gaping wounds of earth on the edge of rivers where machines gauge out quarries of rock and soil to make room for more of man’s making and to provide the concrete that would eventually provide shelter and industry of an ever-increasing population.
I have looked into the face of an ancient past with an eye set on a not-so-distant future. And what have I seen? That underneath it all, it is all completely the same. Whether struggling to survive or coming into the knowing and understanding on what it means to thrive upon this little blue planet of ours, in the end all men and women kind are pretty much exactly the same. Under the surface of it all there really is no difference. Just as a goat is a goat is a goat (and trust me, I’ve seen a lot of goats on this journey), and a field is a field is a field, and a mountain is a mountain is a mountain, so true is the statement that a human is a human is a human.
Sure, cultures are different. Languages vary even more than hair or eye color by the hundreds or even thousands. However, the deeper language is all the same. I hear it in the voices I’ve engaged with no matter what the origin of the tongue or tribe. I’ve seen it in the eyes of just about every villager and city-dweller I’ve had the privilege to share space with. I’ve felt it on a soul level with every being who has allowed me the honor to reveal my own. Time… space… distance… culture… language… likes… dislikes… it’s all the same. It’s all an illusion, and yet those illusions are the very threads that make up the fabric of Life itself. How beautiful is that?
You see, no matter where people are in the world there are these basic human fundamentals that exist for all beings. Okay, so what I’m saying has already been said by so many beings, both mystical and practical thinkers alike. 
So, don’t be afraid to take that leap. Don’t be afraid to cut those cords. Don’t be afraid to let go of everything including whatever you think it is you about yourself. But do hold onto the Truth that the Universe knows exactly what it is doing. Do remember that you are a divine, intricate and valuable expression of the Source… just like everyone else. Do know that beyond living there is loving and eternal learning. Do know that we are all in this together, we are all exactly them same and yet profoundly unique in all that we are capable of doing. Yet, in the end, everything comes back around full circle. Think of it as a spiral actually, infinitely above as it is infinitely below. Infinitely without as it is infinitely within. And eventually, we end up right where we began, but perhaps with a slightly higher perspective next time. Hmmmm… now that’s what mountain tops are for.
